ARE WE THE RIGHT PIANO SCHOOL TO TAKE LESSONS AT?

If you are looking for piano lessons in Sunnyvale, you have come to the right place!

Veksler Academy of Music has taught piano lessons to hundreds of students since opening in 2008.

Our qualified piano teachers all have university degrees in music and have experience teaching children and adults.

The lessons are all conducted on acoustic Yamaha pianos in our individual teaching rooms. Parents are welcome to sit in on the lessons.

The school has developed a special approach to teaching these youngsters in a fun yet professional way. Children at this age learn how to play piano from their first lesson, then from song to song they learn how to express emotions through the music, how to make songs better, how to read notes and finally get their songs ready for a recital.

Our Sunnyvale (Cupertino) school offers piano lessons for students of all ages and abilities from beginners to very advanced students. We offer every style of piano lessons from classical, jazz and pop. We have students who want to play just for fun and students who wish excel with the California Music Teachers' Association curriculum (CM Test).

As we have so many piano teachers on staff we are able to match students with a teacher that works best with their particular age, ability and interest. We start private piano lessons at any age from age 3 and-a-half onwards.

Our private piano lessons are one-on-one instruction and lesson lengths are 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour. For our advanced piano students we have teachers with master's degrees in piano who can prepare them for university entrance or to complete their certification with California Music Teachers' Association program.

WHY LEARN PIANO?

From classical to jazz, pianos can be found almost anywhere. Learning piano is also one of the best musical foundations you can have; most professional musicians have some background in piano. For anyone interested in composing, songwriting, or music theory, piano is nearly essential. John Williams, composer for classic films like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and E.T. began his career as a pianist. But even if you don't care about playing professionally, piano is a great way to learn to read music, train your ear, and have fun playing your favorite songs!

Piano is unique, in part, for the way it fully engages all parts of the mind and body. Although it's easy for young children and other beginners to learn how to play simple melodies, advanced pianists are capable of some truly awe-inspiring performances. Pianists are required to read more music than most other instrumentalists (both bass and treble clef, often simultaneously), play independently with both hands, and make use of both feet. This means that not only does learning piano promote coordination and musicality, but it fully engages the brain. An MIT study revealed that the cerebral cortex, a portion of the brain which is important in memory, attention, perceptual awareness, thought, language, and consciousness, was significantly more developed in subjects who had studied piano as opposed to similar subjects who had no musical training.

For both kids and adults, learning to play the piano can be an incredibly rewarding experience, whether your goal is to become a concert pianist or just to play songs at family gatherings for the holidays.

What is the best age to start taking piano lessons?

We offer individual piano lessons for students from 3.5 years old. We believe that this is an ideal ages to start a their journey in music. We have developed a a special approach to teaching these youngsters in a fun yet professional way. Children at this age learn how to play piano from their first lesson, then from song to song they learn how to express emotions through the music, how to make songs better, how to read notes and finally get their songs ready for a recital. School Director Veksler says: “We have so many happy parents who brought their little children to the private piano at such young age. They were very skeptical about starting private lessons for their 3 year and 6 month children but were very impressed when after just 6 months they participated in our recitals in the theatre”.
